1st August MONDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning!

I feel like I haven't been here for too long and I've missed everyone's updates.

We have a lot of windows to clean here at Carolina Cabana. There are quite a few/many finger prints from a 2 yr old's recent visit :).

There was a horrible episode at 10:00 am yesterday with the youngest child, Cam, (about 15 months) from across the street. 4 of the older kids flew out of the front door (the one in front carrying Cam and screaming "call 911"). A neighbor 3 doors from us was on his driveway cleaning out his car and heard them coming. He met them in the street where they laid Cam down. He had labored breathing, was limp and his eyes were dazed. About 20 mins after the ambulance left 2 police cars showed up and spent about an hour at Cam's house. At 6 last night Child services appeared and spent a short amount of time on the front porch talking to Miss Patty (she is the older woman/"babysitter" that lives there) and the girl that had been carrying Cam down the street. Then the woman left.

So......we don't really know what happened. BUT our main question is WHY DIDN'T MISS PATTY OR ANY OF THE KIDS IN THE HOUSE CALL 911 ???
(our guess is they didn't want anyone with "authority" inside the house because of whatever the conditions may be or perhaps it had to do with drugs.)

And the beat goes on.

Good morning Linda and BN!

Sorry about the fingerprint adventure, and the neighbor nonsense. :-?

Have a blood draw this morning, just checking on those Ferritin/Iron levels again.

A stop at the grocery store on the way back home.

Another day in the 100's. Wheeee!! ;)

Have a good Monday!! :D

Good morning Linda and Penny.

It must have rained overnight, when I looked out the window the streets were wet. We need a couple of days of steady all day rain to help with the drought.

Happy Monday Larry, Linda, and Penny!

Just returned from my New Hampshire camping trip. It was a 'riverside' site, but those quotes are doing the heavy lifting  Rather it was a warm, muddy, and shallow slough. There were a few folks floating and sifting through the riverbed, though. I enjoyed it!

The place had a nice restroom/outhouse, but nothing would flush. Afterward a man came up to me with a shovel. Not something you'd want to see at 11pm, but luckily he was the plumbing guy! I also got to see the Pittsfield Hot Air Balloon Rally. There was a small fire in the fire truck balloon. Ironic...

Have a wonderful Monday, BN :D :D
Jerry...from Massachusetts. I'd like to go where it's warm! :D

Sounds like an interesting adventure there, Jerry!! :)

Back from the blood draw, all went well. Just got to wait for the results, which should be tomorrow, and the LAB emails them to me.

Stopped at the store, saw Cameron. :D Then got some gas in the car.

Picked up my mail, and found a rebate check from State Farm to the tune of $233. Which is $2 less than my monthly payment!! YAY!!

Might mop/wax the floor later. Then again, maybe tomorrow. :P

LINDA! Those people should not be allowed children.

Two hours on the Panama cannel today and I'm finished.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

I made it to chair yoga (which has been moved from 9:30 to 9:15 on M & Fri). I also did the food shopping which is a few days earlier than normal bc we had stocked up for the kids' being here.

We should be getting rain soon -- WE HOPE -- there is thunder in the distance but......

I haven't made a dent in the sticky hand-print window cleaning yet. There's always tomorrow. And since it's cloudy right now they aren't an obvious :).

I made my weekly brewery visit for lunch today. I had a really good pulled pork sandwich and 2 good, but not great, beers. They had a Mexican lager that I was thinking of trying but I decided not to. They always have a few guest taps and that was one of them today. I'd rather have the brewery's own beer than someone else's. Now it's getting very dark and overcast, I hope that means more rain.

Evening BNers!
Another day spent inside... yesterday it was the yucky humidity... today it's the rain, which at least serves a good purpose!

Linda - YIKES!!! :o I really hope that poor child is OK. But maybe... just MAYBE CPS will finally have a case for removal! Fingers Crossed!

Penny - and the fingers on my other hand are crossed for a low Ferritin level result! I'm not sure I understood your "rebate check" comment correctly... it seems like you are saying your car insurance is $235 per month! That's crazy! I just renewed our policy last month, and wrote a check for $1414 which covered both of our cars for a full year!

Bill - you are correct... and perhaps this latest incident will get those kids taken away for their own safety!
But I gotta ask... "Panama Canal"?! What am I missing?

Jerry - I'd rather be a bit further away from the river than be too up close and personal in case it decided to swell! Welcome back to MA, we've missed you in here!

Larry - glad you had some rain down there too. You guys need it more than we do, for sure!

I know some folks here are Zac Brown fans... so I'm sure you heard what he did last night at Fanway (especially since the show was broadcast on RM) But Mac was a special guest AND Zac announced that he was gifting everyone there a free cruise for two on the new Margaritaville at Sea ship- the one he has a "venue" on. (I think it's the Beachcomber) The estimate is it will cost him about $40 million! :o
I'm not a fan, but I gotta say that is pretty darn generous, and it was cool that he gave props to Jimmy in the announcement, too!

Yes, but it's NOT just car insurance. I have Cameron's truck on my policy, and a brand new car, and renters insurance. :)

And yes, I also saw what ZBB did last night. That's crazy!! :o

Larry, I do hope you WILL get more rain. :)

RATZ! Apparently, I went to the wrong Zac Brown show! It's just as well. Anne won't go on a boat that goes out of sight of land.

Elaine. I'm getting a Generac generator tomorrow. I dug a six-inch-deep ditch for the gas pipe that's 50 feet long. An 18 foot ditch to the generator was dug 15 inches deep.

Glad you're doing that, Bill. :) My sister and BIL have one, but nothing (that I know of) needed to be dug. But I could be wrong. ;)

They can be placed right along the house, usually close to the electric box. The gas line is usually buried.

Ah Ha! Now it makes much more sense!!! I could not believe auto insurance could be cheaper here... especially by that much!

And yeah... it sure is!

Actually, depending on where you live, it could be cheaper. How much cheaper, I don't know, but car insurance tends to cost more in big cities compared to smaller towns, due to higher accident rates, more theft, etc....

Massachusetts has always been known for high auto insurance rates throughout the state (I'm sure they are even higher in "risky" areas). The standard "joke" was that everyone had to share the cost of insuring the Kennedys!
When we moved here, the major national carriers would not even write policies. We found that out when we tried to switch our address on our Allstate policy (a company we'd dealt with for over 20 years and 6 states) I told our CT agent they needed to put "Almost" in front of the company name! Back then there were only MA-specific companies, and we needed to go through an insurance broker. Things have since changed, and with the influx of well-known national companies now writing policies, rates seem to have come down a bit.

Well... DUH! I remember you talking about installing one! Your "panama canal" joke went right over my head!
I hope you are getting a deal on the install by doing the prep work for them!
