Everybody's On The Run Saturday @ the MSC

Post by SMLCHNG »

Good morning all!

Doing a few things today, nothing much that's special. Just home stuff.

Another hot one here, and through Tuesday. A chance for rain and cooling off late next week.

Have a good Saturday!! :)

Good Morning Penny!

Kevin & I don't run much anymore -- except "run to the grocery store, run to get a bite to eat", etc :)

At 1:00 we will be joining 7 neighbors for a pontoon boat ride on the Waccamaw (Intracoastal waterway) River. We're excited to do this since we've heard a lot about it. Kevin & Dave (Dave & his wife Sue are the only ones in the group that have done this before) will take turns "manning the boat" as the Skipper & Gilligan [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif].

After we return from our "4-hour tour" we'll all gather at Dave/Sue's for a dual birthday celebration for Sue & another one of the women in the group. Good times will be had.

Our daughter's family are scheduled to land Sunday at 6 pm -- we're excited to see them -- it's been a year.

Have a fantastic day everyone.

Good morning ladies. U ran across a busy street last week. It was the first time since surgery.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning.

I used to run, I was on the track team in high school. I didn't run in college, except playing softball in the summer, then after college I started running again for exercise. I used to run 2 1/2-3 miles every day. I stopped running after I had knee surgery, except for playing softball again. I stopped playing softball when I was 55, now I only run my mouth.

When I worked in midtown Manhattan people used to run across the street all the time, nobody ever waits for the light to turn green. Like a typical NYer, I crossed the street on the red light too, but only if I could make it walking. I was never in that much of a hurry that I wanted to race a car though an intersection.

One time I saw 2 people step off the sidewalk like they were going to cross the street on a red light. There was a police officer directing traffic in the intersection. He yelled at them to get back on the sidewalk because "this isn't Nebraska, the cars will hit you".

I have tried to run with a walker. But all I can do now is have the runs.

Good News / Bad News... we got the promised fresh air blowing in from the Pacific, bringing cooler temps and cleaner air. Unfortunately, those same winds are now fanning the wildfires on the eastern side of the state, making them worse. About 150,000 acres have burned and more than 800 homes have been destroyed. :(

Any Jacob Collier fans out there?

Running??! Oh he# no! :o
My knees have never been up for that! :( Walking or swimming are fine, but I can not tolerate anything hard-impact.
Our D-i-L is a marathoner... she runs enough for the entire family! Our son will run half-marathons but mostly to keep in shape for soccer. He likes to bike & swim as well, so he has done some triathlons.

Speaking of swimming, just heard from our daughter a bit ago that her swim across Cayuga Lake for a Hospice Charity was successfully completed! Last year it was cut short due to weather. The wind was too high, making the water too choppy to be safe.

For those of you in here with felines, give them an extra treat today for International Cat Day!
It is also my GrandKitty Quercus' 10th birthday!

Mr. SPH - I have to admit I'm with Penny in my lack of knowledge about Jacob Collier. That orchestra video was great!
I'm glad you got the relief from that wind shift... but really sad to read of just how bad the destruction was to your east...

Linda - enjoy your float down the Intercoastal! Hopefully, it will not turn real Gilligan-esque!

Larry - I can SO hear a NYC cop yelling that! :D

Bill - glad your knee held up for the road-dash!

Moog - your comment wins the day! I love that yur sense of humor is still intact!

Congratulations to your daughter!!!! :D

We're up to 95 degrees here, but humidity is only 20%. :)

Someone mentioned on FB about the show "Zillow Gone Wild", and if you want to look at the craziest houses for sale across the country, this one is fun to watch!! :D

There's a minor league baseball team in Fayetteville, NC, they're in the same league as the Pelicans. Fayetteville is about an hour's drive from Raleigh, where the Carolina Hurricanes play. One of the Hurricanes jerseys says CANES diagonally across the front. The baseball team is doing a giveaway in honor of the Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup, the first 1,350 people through the gates at next Saturday's game will get a hockey style jersey with a shortened version of the baseball team's name diagonally across the front. They're the Woodpeckers. The jersey is going to say PECKERS. If I lived closer to Fayetteville I would go to that game.

Hi Kids!!!!

These posts are making me smirk today with the exception of the wildfires out west. So sad, and I hope they are contained soon.

It continues to be hot and dry here, but there is low humidity today. I enjoyed a float in my pool this afternoon. It was nice to just lay there and listened to the Boats portion of the box set.

Thought I would check in since it has been over a week, I am sure. Going to sit on the back patio and listen to the last Reefer concert tonight. It will be streaming in Radio Margaritaville from Boston. I sure enjoyed the two concerts last week; they were amazing, and the tailgate at Pine Knob was pretty fun (other than the rain…).

Moogy, it is nice to see you-loads of love, luck, and healing vibes continue. Love and luck to everyone else along with a dose of healthy vibes for good measure. 💕💕💕
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Well that thread title brought up some great memories. One of Australia's biggest and best live rock bands, Midnight Oil, in their song Hercules had "everbody's got you on the run" as the chorus hook...

Evening, Rabz! Sorry, never heard of that band. The title was from: EVERYBODY'S ON THE RUN, Jimmy Buffett, M. Chapman, W.Jennings & Mike Utley
