Hey folks. We are first stop on this tour....
Doesn't Jimmy and the CRB usually come a few days early on a tour start to fine tune the show????
The new Riverwalk in the Woodlands runs right up to the Pavillion. A great place for preshow wanderings....

Just got my lawn tickets for this show, i've never set / stood in the lawn area before, but then again, i've never had the luxury of seeing jimmy (gasp!!!!!!) outside before either. looking foward to a great show.
by the wya, just wondering if anyone was able to snag reserved seats, with my dsl connection i was hitting refresh every 2 seconds until the order form finally popped up, when it did i pick best available and got lawn. I'm not complaining, just curious.
i've never been to houston before, so someone will have to give pointers on the tailgating. thanks guys and look foward to seeing you there.

Add me to the growing list of Ticketmaster haters. Today I would be number one on the list. My buying order got disrupted by a password problem. Then my order was lost. Unless by something divine they got the order. This has to be the most intense aggravation possible.

By 10:02, lawn was best available. I had a little trouble online, but they came through. Good ol' Ticketmaster. Making me sweat it out and throw out a choice word or two.

stumbling--distance to the venue.

FYI
And there is NO tailgating at the venue.
NONE
Last year, men on horses were chasing people off if you arrived too early.

It is very much a bummer that we have never been able to tailgate before a show at the Woodlands. However the local Parrot Heads do throw one heck of a party! Oh and by the way......LAWN TICKETS are a blast

If you are taking I45 North from Houston it is on the left (West side) of the freeway just past Kuykendal (I think), and right past the point where the Hardey Toll road North, and 45 North merge. I'll double check, but all and all it is about 10 to 15 min away from the venue. There is a new riverwalk.....it is a lot of fun, and as close to a tailgate you can get.

Right, SpringParrot,
No tailgating.... But with the new riverwalk behind the Pavillion, I hope ParrotHeads will use it to gather. I am sure they will police the booze though.
There are several places to stay in or right next to the Woodlands. There is a Marriott Hotel as SP said, there is a Hampton Inn, a Marriott Residence Inn I think also. Maybe a Quinta Inn also.
Lots of places to eat around the mall area by the Pavillion. Guadalahara is a good mexican place. Chili's, TGIFridays, Outback, Pappadeaux's, all nearby. Oh, and a Hooters now...
Last year I think one of the band played at Mucky Duck in Houston the night before the show.
reserved seats online, re: USMParrothead

I got into TicketMaster within seconds of it going online. I selected best available asap, and got 2 in row QQ, via old dial in, finally about 10:04. I got bumped out once and nearly died at the delay on getting my order re entered. But got 2 seats in uncovered area. Whew!!
It is amazing how fast they lock up the reserved seats...
Just how FAST do you have to be to get closer seats? I tried wife and daughter using 2 phones also, but that is a real crap shoot.
My tickets have already arrived by snail mail too!!!
Consider getting the paid parking too. For $10 you can park right next to the pavillion and the riverwalk. It is between the Marriott convention center and the venue. Not sure if you can still order parking tickets via TM.com.
USMParrothead, the lawn seats are nice...haha. We were on em last year. They added concessions at the top of the hill this year too. Don't bother with renting chairs. You will be on your feet most of the time even on the lawn.
I hope you have a great Houston experience.

The Woodlands is, IMHO, just about the nicest place to sit on the lawn. And I had great luck last year when my reserved seat turned out to be obstructed with equipment that was unique to Buffett's tour (and the ushers were really hearing about it). Got moved forward to 8th row center with another person similarly disturbed...sent numeorus emails to the venue to thank them: honestly, you really can't see him in a much nicer place than the CMW Pavilion. Ice House party was fun, before, too... I moved from Houston to southern California recently (so, damn, have to go to Vegas this year), but this is one of the few times I really miss it.
Have fun, you guys...and if you know the parking lot that's adjacent to the Mitchell Energy drafting building, that's a GREAT place to get both in and out.
