Ok so the Tike Tour...........

Post by CANADIANPARROTHEAD »

Does anyone think, because Jimmy basically has put out a Greatest Hits collection that maybe he will mend his way with Fingers??? I know this has been a post somewhere, but I am curious what others think.
Also I wonder if basically the songs on the new CD will be the set list.I would think so......
Also, do you think he will play "The tiki bar is open".....

No I don't think he is going to make an amends with Fingers.
If he was going to do that, then he would have done it for the remakes
of the classics on the "new album" instead of utilizing the other
members talents for what were once Fingers solos. As far as
the new album representing the setlist I hope it doesn't. Yes I
would like to hear some of the more obscure songs that are on it,
but I think there are "other songs" that he could play instead of
the large quantity of "songs you know by heart" that are on the
compliation. Tiki Bar is Open is a great song, but if he's going to
be playing the two new covers songs that are on the album plus
the standard Brown Eyed Girl and Southern Cross, I don't want
to hear yet another cover song! I like Jimmy's songs better!!!

Thank God the Tiki Bar is Open - I hope so, especially since it's Tiki Time!

Fingers is out. :( As far as the setlist goes-I believe we will hear the song Altered Boy from FSOTW. Considering the song was inspired by a Tiki Bar, and the tour is called Tiki Time, it would surprise me if it wasn't played this tour. And it would be nice if Tiki Bar is Open would have made the new cd. It is an awsome song. :pirate:

From what I understand Fingers wanted to bring his family on tour with him full time when he was with Buffett but Jimmy wouldn't cover extra cost, he doesn’t do it for anyone in the band.

I do remember the last Vegas show (May 2002) buffet made reference on stage to that being family weekend for the band saying most of his and the band family members were in Vegas with them so the assumption is one tour stop a year the families join the band again this is just an assumption.

I think there also was something about most members of the Coral refer Band being part time employees and not getting the benefits that would come with being fulltime(Health insurance being on of them). At the same time Fingers left Mac left for a short while but returned. There was a story on this a few years back in the Boston Herald or Globe. This is all from memory I am sure someone else will know more.

I think it will be a cold day in hell before Fingers gets on stage again with Jimmy. There is a lot more to it than the reasons given in some of the other responses here. Let just say Fingers screwed Jimmy one to many times. Jimmy gave him a few chances to fix the situation and Fingers never came through.

I'm intersted to know how Fingers "screwed" Jimmy! Was it a music or money issue, or something else?

It's way too long a story, but it involves a woman, and a lack of professionalism. Eventually it wound up being an issue of not being able to trust him.
I don't mean to vague, but not sure how much of this is common knowledge.

I spoke w/Fingers after a show he did w/Living Soul in Detroit. He basically said it is about the $$$ for Jimmy and he lost touch with the music (stuff we already heard) Too bad, said it has to feel like a divorce, since they were together for 30 years. Even if it was about something else, the longevity and friendship should have been enough to overcome what ever it was.

Can't wait 'til Fingers rejoins the CRB next month and this discussion board starts buzzin' like crazy! Yes, wishful thinking, but hey, reaching for the stars is what it's all about!

PS - Anyone know how I can get rid of that "newbie" thing under my name? Drives me nuts!

See ya'll in Atlanta.

You would think, unless you've heard both sides of the story.

As Matt said... there's no point in airing dirty laundry. But if Fingers' really thinks it was him leaving because his family wasn't allowed on tour, then he's delusional.

He WILLINGLY burned his bridges with Jimmy.
