ticket exchange

Post by Jenaideu »

Not to be a tattle-tail or anything, but I'm noticing a lot of ticket scalping and "make an offer" posts on the ticket exchange.... what can we do about this? I find our BN ticket exchange a refreshing change from the world of E-bay and ticket brokers and would hate to see our friendly exchange fall by the way-side...

I listed Vegas tix on the board for "best offer", but I wasn't looking to make money on them. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they'll sell for less than face. PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE don't associate me with the scalpers. You probably didn't mean to do it, but you kinda made it sound like all of the people that are asking "best offer" are out to rob fellow Parrotheads.

Jen, it's funny you ask...I'm getting together something to present to PHJim that would address this and ticket selling situations. I've just gotten a little backed up with cookbook sales :D Bear with me....

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you take all the posts for people selling tix that say "best offer" or even above face value off the board essentially the only posts left will be those looking for tickets. Go in and count the number of posts of those selling at face value, trust me it won't take you long to count those  I don't have tix yet for GW but If I saw someone selling tickets that I thought was a reasonable price I would want to have the option to purchase those through the exchange. By taking those off the board you are making the choice for us. Please give people the option to purchase above face value tickets if they prefer.

I agree!

But looking ath the Great Woods ad's for the Aug 30 show there are two people who are trading barbs back and forth between a "Craig Marx" and "Tony" maybe these ads should be removed:

I don't mind overpaying, but it is a bit out of hand. Over $100. apiece for $32. lawn tix. I am right now trying to decide how high I will go.

If I needed tickets I would want all ads no matter the price up so i could decide for myself!

Yes it is. I'm must bitching and moaning. Even $100. apiece for lawn is less then the broker price anyway. If I come across overpriced Camden seats on the boards I would be buying them.

GBNMTA! I noticed that right away for some reason, and thought "wow - that's some invitation!"

As for the topic at hand, I see your arguments to give the option to the buyers, but I for one would rather they weren't allowed - face value only. It would be nice to have a place to look for just good honest phriends parting with extra tix at face value plus shipping if need be, and I thought the BN TE was that place.

There are plenty of other avenues to find all of the sellers looking for profit!

there are over 550 posts on the exchange, less than 20 actually say selling for face value. That's approx. 4% of the posts. Eliminate those saying "make an offer" and those selling for over face you might as well eliminate the whole exhange :( I would love to see a full ticket exchange with those selling for face only but the bottom line is people are not selling them for face, so let us decide. Hmmmmm maybe we should set up a poll and let the BNer's decide.

Eliminating the profiteers would make the others that much easier to find. You wouldn't have to wade through all of them and sort them all out. But less ads wouldn't facilitate eliminating the whole exchange - no matter how few tickets make it up there, it would still be a worthy valuable tool.

Sellers could attempt other avenues elsewhere, then come here for the last resort to part with them at face.

I do agree with you 100% that it's poll-worthy - let's hear from the masses.

WoW RT i thought I had allot of free time.

It’s obvious there is 2 sides to this argument some have no problems with brokers/scalpers some hate them. I don’t think anyone is neutral on this.

It is a slow day here at work. Hey Pat you know how to set up one of those polls (it's all I can do to long onto BN, no idea how to set up a poll) let's get one going and see what other BNer's think. I would say that you and I are certainly the minority on this cause but let's hear what masses say.
