Alpine Valley Camping

Post by TikiTime »

I go to thr Alpine show every year, and love it. We usually take a bus from the Chicago area. Well this year we rented a RV and plan on camping somewhere near the show. I am looking for a fun campground near by. I have stayed at Bigfoot beach state park in the past and was not happy. It is a "dry" park. What fun is that...... So any help would be great.

Thanks

Call the Town of Vernon (Area Code is 262 for info) and there is a camp site on Craig Ave just north of the Racine County Line in Vernon / Big Bend. It is about 15 minutes away or so, you can take back roads i would guess, but most likely the easiest way is the Hwy 164 exit off of Hwy 43.

For the last 6 years my friends and I have stayed at Snug Harbor Inn. It is about 10 minute drive to Alpine Valley. The closest town to the campsite is Delevan, WI. They have a limited number of tent sites and several RV sites. The campsite has a lodge on the grounds with a full service bar and restaraunt. Here is their website,

For the first time last year, we stayed at the Snug Harbor Inn also. I would recommend it. We just found it on the internet, and called a made a reservation. But, we called about a month and a half before the concert and they were almost completely full, so make a reservation far in advance. There were many other Buffett fans staying there, and it was cool to walk around at night, because many people were having there own Buffett parties, and we got to meet alot of new fans.

Are you planning on staying again this year. I have talked to individuals in and around MN and ND, it sounds like another big group this year. Always a fun time at Snug Harbor. PH987 is right, do make reservations ASAP, they fill up quick.

I just booked it today.
My brother in law and myself will be heading in on Friday morning to start off the party. Last year in the morning before the concert I struggled my drunk ass out of the tent and got a hole in one at 7 am on the second hole of the morning. What a great weekend. Partying, a hole in one and Buffett. The only thing missing was the little lady. Guess you cannot win them all.
We are coming in from Blaine Mn a north Mpls suburb. Where is everybody else coming from?

Actually, I think this year we're going to try something in the Lake Geneva area. But, if that doesn't work out, I would like to go back and stay at Snug Harbor again.

I have also stayed at the Kettle Moraine State forrest for a Buffett trip. It was a great place to stay as well. Watch out for the park rangers, they don't like the campsite to campsite socializing us parrotheads are famous for.
