Assignment Suggestions

Post by SonofASonofASailor »

Ok, my teacher said for our final presentation we have to perform a mix of reading of poetry, prose, etc..... We can pick two forms of medium. Song lyrics are one option. I was thinking of picking a Jimmy song, any suggestions for a song that could be read like poetry?
I've read dozens of books about heros and crooks and have learned much from both of their styles.

I would go with ones that have no refrains, just verses. There's a name for that, but at 1:30 in the am I can't think of it.
How about "A Pirate Looks at Forty" or "Son of a Son of a Sailor"?

The teacher may object to some of the lyrics in West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown but it does make a good tale. How about Door Number Three, most of the lines rhyme.

My suggestions would be either Cowboy in the Jungle, False Echoes, or Quiety Making Noise.

Any of his Ballads would work, When The Coast is Clear. On The Coast of Marseille, Island, or Sending the Old Man Home
Then God way up in Heaven, for whatever it was worth,
Thought he'd have a big 'ol party, thought he'd call it planet Earth

Great suggestions. I did God's Own Drunk as a performance actually at the very beginning of the semester for this class. So I can't do it again. That was a lot of fun though. I have thought about all of those you've mentioned. I'm still trying to decide.
