A Question About The Meadows

Is there anyone who can answer this for me. For years I went to see Jimmy at the Meadows Music Center in Hartford, CT. Several tours ago, he stopped coming to the facility. I am wondering if there was a reason why? I know that security became much tighter in regards to tailgating the last couple times he was there. I can only guess that the increased security and harassment of the fans was due to the fact that in the days prior to Jimmy's shows, rock bands, like Rage Against the Machine, performed and there was a lot of damage to the lawn, fences, etc. And also riots broke out at Dave Matthews shows just prior to Bubba's shows. I am curious if the facility made it harder for jimmy to agree to appear or maybe he was just not happy with the problems that always plagued his fans trying to attend.

A dissapointed fan.

It may just be due to the fact that Jimmy has scaled back his number of concerts in recent years. He used to come to St Louis and now the closest venue for me is Dallas or Chicago.

I'm pretty sure it's a combination of both...

Jimmy scaled back shows and had to eliminate some venues. I'm sure the issues at the Meadows a few years back made it less attractive than others.

It seems like wanted to scale back all the shows, and he prefers Great Woods....ever notice how he'll never refer to Great Woods as the Tweeter Center.....he even cut out the third show in Boston.

I remember a few years back where Jim Koplik, the promoter of the Meadows, said on his radio show that Buffett liked Hartford because they promised him a weeknight, where most other venues wanted weekends. The last couple of years he came, it was a Tuesday night, the first few were on weekends, one was on a Sunday night, I think it might have been the first one, back in 1995.

One great thing about the Meadows, other than it's 15 minutes from home, is that it never sold out right away, it was the one "sure thing" about seeing at least one show each summer, if ticket plans for other places didn't work out.

Yeah Zuke, I remember Koplik saying too he would only bring in Buffett on a weekday from now on because "Those Parrotheads are too nuts on a weekend".
Also, he did say he'd bring him back ($$$) but since Jimmy cut back his schedual Hartford is not on the agenda.
