Get drunk and screw question...

This has been racking my brain most when I'm in the shower humming the tune. The lyrics go "They say you are a snuff queen"...Maybe its me but I have no idea what a snuff queen is. The word snuff to me means a murder that takes place on camera in a porno, but that wouldn't make any sence because how could the girl in the lyrics be that type of snuff and still be alive. I guess my being born in the eighties might have something to do with not knowing what that means, but if someone could shed some light onto what in the world a "Snuff Queen" is, I can go on to getting through singing "Why don't we get drunk and screw" in the shower.

Welcome aboard!

Over the years, "snuff queen" in the context of WDWDGAS has been thought to mean a woman that snorted a lot of cocaine.

That's the same thing that we thought it meant in Stillwater in 1980 and 1981. 8)

Hey Fins,

Did you go (or are you currently going) to OSU? My wife and I moved out to VA from OK about a year ago. We like it out here, but we do miss Stillwater! :)

:o :o :o :o
I never heard that interpretation! :-?

I thought it was slang for a groupie, particularly in the counrty music scene.

(I think Jimmy has said the song was inspired by a business man and a prostitute he saw in an Atlanta bar, tho...)

i met Jimmy at a book-signing (Joe Merchant) and pholks were allowed to ask one question and mine was the snuff queen one. He said it was a term for a "hillbilly groupie" , used by folks like Hank Williams or Hank Snow.

This subject was discussed in detail some months ago,
and the conclusion was "Hillbilly Groupie". As always, G.M.,Jr.

When PH4ever and I went to Jerry Jeff Walker's birthday bash, there were country stars at the afterparty and chicks hanging onto them for pictures and such. We looked at each other and simultaneously said "snuff queens"
The moral of the story: you may not be able to define "snuff queen" but you'll know one when you see one.

You might want to check out the "Jimmy Buffett Scrapbook", page 111. A country groupie from the early days, not necessarily a prostitue but an "easy conquest" you might say.

On another note, I thought he says, "Well honey, I break hearts too." Am I imagining that? It's not in the lyrics online.
