What a *fantastic* show!!!!

If you weren't at Stephen Talkhouse last night, you missed a real treat!

I'm not sure who was having more fun, the audience, or Mac.

He got his fingers warmed up by opening with Simple Life, and never slowed down. The stories he tells about the songs are every bit as entertaining as the songs themselves. I've heard him tell the story of Jimmy's, ah, interaction with Sheriff Buford "Walking Tall" Pusser, resulting in the song Semi-True Stories, but each telling seems to get even better, and Mac had the audience rolling on the floor laughing.

Mac honored a request from the floor and reached waaay back to his first album to play Alive where, as he put it, "He sticks the landing!"

Oysters and Pearls was a another rare treat.

Just a few other samples from a terrific set list (not in order, because I was too busy listening to jot down an actual set list... )

Simple Life
Looking Back
Miracle
When the Coast is Clear
All These Years
Changing Channels
Good for Nothing
Oysters and Pearls
Semi-True Stories
The Knot
Pop Top Hop
Last Man Standing
Junk Cars
In the City
Little Martha
It's My Job

Encores:
Meanwhile
Tonight I Just Need My Guitar

I'm sure I missed at least a couple of songs. Help me out here, fellow attendees!

All in all, an unbeatable evening of music and storytelling. If you have a chance to catch any of Mac's shows this summer, don't pass it up!

Mac also performed Changing Channels, and The Knot, not that I would have the set list or anything. He did a great job on Alive, which my wife requested, and he definetely STUCK THE LANDING. Great Show.

I am from Sheffield Al which is Mac's hometown. I remember going to his show, back in the 70's and his signature song was called Samuel Arisin', has anyone ever heard Mac play this song? I remember him playing it at the Coffee High School Auditorium way back when.
