Hey, Parrotheads!

Was there any mention of this being Michael Utley's last show? I think someone had too much tequila last night...and mistakenly heard this. I think Buffett must have just said it was the last Beach House on the Moon tour. Maybe it was JUST Utley's last time to have to do that Let's Get Drunk and Moon routine ;)

Sticks & stones may break my bones but mullets will never hurt me! On behalf of the cast & crew of the Hemisphere Dancer, this is Guapo saying whaaaaaaaaasup! Guapo have blast the past 2 weeks!
Sad to see it end! "Drink it up...this one's for you...it's been a lovely mullet!"

I laughed, I cried, I experienced the full spectrum of emotions!

The concert was great. We had a wonderful time in the parking lot and everyone seemed to be one big happy family. Only problem was when someone walked off with my parrothed hat. Luckily I was able to spot it from 50 yards away.Jimmy sounded great!! Can't wait till next time around. Also enjoyed seeing him buzz the parking lot in the H.D. a few times pre show.

The pre show festivities in the parking lot was the best I had ever seen.

The venue inside was the biggest •••• HOLE I have ever been to. Was I the only on being trampled trying to get to my seat? Was I the only one with dumb idiot "yellow coats" giving me bogus information?

Buffet shows are great. Irvine Meadows is a dump!!!

Had a wonderful time at the concert...so sad to see it go. I decided that Buffett is like santa and christmas...He only comes once a year, you get all excited, celebrate, and then go home and wait for next year.
A big shout out to the trash men who towed us around the parking lot for about an hour! Had a blast...See you all next year.

The concert was a blast last night, and Jimmy was awesome as usual!! He sounded great and played with a lot of energy. Always looks like he's having just as much fun as we are. I took a few newbies with me this time and now they're totally hooked and ready to come back next year. I love the parking lot scene at Irvine, but that was the sorriest excuse for security I've ever seen. Just a bunch of idiots in uniform walking around doing either absolutely nothing, or trying to harrass people for trying to have a little bit of harmless fun. Then of course when a pretty vicious fight broke out on the lawn, security was nowhere to be found. When are SOME of these people gonna learn that a Buffett show is about having fun and enjoying some great music, not an excuse to act like an a**hole. ...And when will Irvine Meadows finally get their sh*t together?? Thanks for a great 30 years though Jimmy!! YOU'RE the reason we keep coming back!!!

From a fan-I agree that things are tight but when you need help it's not there
and a message to the younger fans-we get it do you? Pushing and shoving is not the style here so "chill" kids!!

Jimmy said Mr. Utley was the last known sighting of Major Nelson (refering to the "I dream of Jeannie" portion of the show, not Mr. Utley's last show. Anyone thinking he said it was Utley's last show is drinking too much!!

I agree with the parking lot reviews, hats off to the weedeater/motorcycle blender, 2X4 Jenga, and the crazy dude jumping from motorhome to motorhome like Dirty Harry (was I the only one who wanted to see him fall). It was my second show at Irvine: seemed a bit oversold in the grass, and don't remember so many passed out or puking idiots in the past. Vegas/MGM is the best venue and pre-party I have seen.

The crowd did seemed alittle more wasted and out of control this year. Think it had to do with their age. This was the youngest crowd I have seen at Jimmys concerts. Might explain all the puking, fighting, pushing and general a**holeness that some of us experienced.

I am with you guys - We had a GREAT time in the parking lot - but the scene in the lawn section was just too insane. I was trampled more than once and had to move to higher ground. Sound was great at Irvine for a change! Can't wait until the next time around (although we will be first in line for actual seats)

The show was great! Cowboy in the Jungle/Bannana
Republics was awesome! Jimmy's "senior moment" was
priceless. I could not believe the crowd this
year. The Parrotheads were reasonably well behaved
but there seemed to be a lot of young (18-21)
spoiled Orange county brats that were not part of
the Buffett scene and came only as an excuse to
party and go berserk at the expense of others. I
observed kids just going from tailgate to tailgate
hitting people up for booze. I had a group of
teenagers who were all pretty drunk gather in
front of my tailgate. One tried to use my cooler
as a kickstand for his motor scooter. Then while
while my wife and I were grilling kabobs, two of
the "boys" reached down for them and said "Hey
man, can we have these?" When I laughed and said
"no" they looked at me like I was the biggest
***hole and started to walk away but not before
one of them pretended to stumble, knocked over one
of our lawn chairs and gave me a "what are ya
gonna do now?" look over his shoulder. I just
laughed again, picked up the chair and enjoyed our
meal. I saw some poor drunk bastard flip over the
railing form Terrace to Loge. I saw security doing
nothing. The parking lot was a disaster
afterwards. Garbage was everywhere. Kids were
breaking bottles, kicking glass everywhere. We
tried to picking up our immediate area but it was
hopeless. I think Irvine meadows blew it by a)
Opening the lots to early. b) not providing enough
TRAINED security c) not enough trash cans. I hope
they'll let Jimmy come back. And what was up with
everyone on cellphones? Oh, and the 2-stroke
blender was the

I have been going to Irvine for 6 or 7 years now and Jimmy must hold a special place in his heart for that venue. Every year he drops a little treat, something he hasn't play the entire tour. Bannana Republics with Cowboy in the Jungle was about the coolest thing I have seen him do in 28 shows.

The Ocean of Storms proved to be a little slice of parrothead paradise as Jimmy's fine-feathered lunar lander touched down for two shows at Irvine
Meadows. Saturday's salacious soiree' was the best! The weather was here, and the parrotheads were beautiful. Irvine Meadows phans have a well deserved rep for that style… that look… that parrothead panache, to paraphrase the Maestro from Margaritaville.

With sunny blue skies, 76 degree temp, and a pleasant sea breeze filling the sails of our collective party boat, Irvine's tropical tailgate proved once again to be the Caroline Street for lots of crazy women; a sandy crosswalk for our flock of fruitcakes!
We had over 300 winners at this year's Tropical Trivia Bar, and a boatload of lewd losers who put on a helluva show! JungleJody, LagoonLori and
our other female bartenders all enjoyed the Moons over Margaritaville! And the guys got their share of parrothead pulchritude too. These are the
people your parents warned you about!
Thanks to all of you positively possessed parrotheads who contributed and helped make this year's tropical tailgates one of the best ever!

Bagging on Irvine Meadows officials is a popular pasttime. I prefer to focus on the positive in parrotheadonism. However, I would forward this one comprehensive suggestion for the future.....
To truly organize this titillating tropical tailgate, to eliminate those few errant Gypsies who try to spoil our parrothead Palace, and to make a buck, convert the p/lot into an official parrothead event, complete with admission tickets, parking stickers, handstamps, whatever. Open the gates at 12:00 noon, and charge $100 per vehicle.
Invite a few select vendors of parrotphernalia. All this will pay for security, police officers, trash cans, and post-event clean-up. The pricetag keeps the knuckleheads out, nobody under 21 gets admitted, the real parrotheads get their tropical tailgate hassle-free, and the Meadows makes a mint!

Just a thought.........

Bill's pictures and Margarita Mickey's words say it all. Irvine Meadows has to be one of the best, most creative tailgate parties of any Buffett stopover. A beautiful bunch of big kids!

Show me yours, and I'll show you mine.
Take me back to days full of monkey shines.
Bouncing on a bubble full of trouble,
In the Southern California sun.

I like the private parking lot party idea. I would pay $100 bucks for the priviledge of partying with these people all day, our way, with no interruptions from those very few who sometimes succeed in ruining the fun for everyone.

Amen!!! had a Phantastic time in the parking lot, and actually about 1/2 way into the concert. Then, up in the grass.... all hell broke loose!! Stepped on, puked on, peed on.. and all I remembered at that point was that when we were up there and put out blanket down, there were alot of families with SMALL children. I hope they made it out okay. Did they at one point just open the gates to everyone? There were just too many "Beachy, college kids" with no tickets, just a big excuse to drink. I got seperated from my husband and my girlfriend, and was stuck in the parking lot for over an hour. Kids throwing beer and tequila bottles at cars, people, etc., one poor guy passed out under a car, and when the owners of the car came they just drug him over to the next available trash-littered empty space.

Hey, I made all the shows on the west coast and Arizona. Fun at all of them.. But damn after the mess in the parking lot in Irvine, I'll be really suprised that they will let us come back... This was a terrible display of Parrothead fun.. Yes, we all know it was not the true Parrotheads that did the damage... So guys that are head bangers, and rap listners, GO to your own concerts and let the Parrotheads enjoy what we have been doing for 30 years....We are all fun loving people and know how to party and clean up after ourselves..

If what I am hearing re: Irvine is true, and it happens again, expect most venues to only open gates 1 - 2 hrs before showtime. Another example of a few bad apples ruining the entire basket. Thanks a lot losers. What is worse, is that those responsible could care less. They can always find a party so if JB never goes back it wouldn't matter to them in the least. Let's hope this is not the start of a trend.

I agree with you all. Lets just hope we are not banished from our phlocking in the future. I was so dissapointed in the behavior of the rowdy, obnoxious younger crowd. I believe the words to the song are Why don't we get drunk and screw, not get drunk and destroy. I hope Irvine doesn't hold this against the parrotheads.
