Review : Great show on an incredible day. Tailgating was typically awesome and just as friendly and peaceful as every Buffett show is; just goes to show that only immature Dave Matthews crowds of 16-year-olds tear stuff up and light cars on fire. Schoolboy Heart is always my favorite. Jimmy did great justice to Brown-Eyed Girl and Southern Cross as always. Nice to hear Stars on the Water again. Love and Luck is one of the best encores he ever does, and helped put a punctuation mark on probably the 2nd-best set I've heard him do (next to 1998). Phins Up!!!!

Review : Another great show by Jimmy and Coral Reefers.. Club Trini really had the crowd going before the show.. And Judy and I had the pleasure of meeting Doyle Grisham outside before the show..! We told him how happy we were that Jimmy had him back in his music after all these years.. Very nice guy!! "Come Monday" sounded better than I've ever head it been done live before.. Thanks Jimmy for all the years and keep having fun!!

Review : We came up from NC for the show and it was outstanding. Great variety and great crowd as always- even in CT. Met some people from Washington State that flew in to celebrate their 30 Wedding Anniversary. I thought we came a long way for the show! I will submit pictures from Digital Camera when I land back in NC- ROW M. Thanks for the Northern Hospitality Hartford.

Review : Getting a voice mail at work from your Parrothead friends at 11AM giving you directions as to where to find them in the parking lot and that they’ve commenced making margaritas, makes it a little hard to concentrate on your work, knowing that you’ve got to stay there until 3PM. But, I managed to make it through the shortened work day. Several of our friends took 2 days off for the show. One for the show itself, and 1 to recuperate. My wife and I have got a couple of kids and have to worry about babysitters and such, but we wouldn’t miss the yearly Caribbean retreat hosted by Jimmy for anything. Three hours of tailgating plus the show is fine with us. After the Meadows made national headlines a few weeks ago with the arrest of 30 kids [literally], the cars set ablaze and rioting in the parking lot during the Dave Matthews show, the Hartford cops were taking no chances. But, they only did what they had to do to keep the peace. They checked tickets at the parking lot entrances, to make sure that all who entered were actually going to the show and not just there to hang out all night. They also told everyone to start walking to the show or leave the lot by 7:30. During the day, you didn’t see too many police around though. So, the tailgating was in full swing. And, once again, the parrotheads showed their class and had fun, but didn’t get too crazy. On the way in, we saw an attractive young lady in shorts and a bikini top trying to convince a policeman to let one of their friends’ cars into a lot that was already closed due to full capacity. Whatever works. Somehow, I think she eventually convinced him. A walk through the packed parking lot revealed the true ingenuity of the typical parrothead; flatbeds turned into mini-beaches, battery powered blenders and ping pong tables [though chasing that little ball down the parking lot when the guy hits it past you must have gotten tiring]. U-Haul and Ryder must have done a great business this week, as their box trucks became travelling bars. My friends commented that we were sure that 100% of the renters checked “yes” for renters insurance while filling out the rental paperwork, all the while grinning from ear to ear knowing full well what the poor truck was about to be subjected to. We saw several signs offering “free beer” for any females who removed their tops for the masses. Even the local Mcdonald’s across the street from the main lot got into the spirit of the day and had Buffett music cranking over their sound system outside. There was actually a local band playing in the corner of the lot doing all Buffett covers. At least my buddy and I finally got to hear “The Weather is Here, Wish you Were Beautiful” live. Even if it wasn’t Buffett’s version. Some guys next to use had an 8’ wooden Margaritaville” bar set up. They were the hit of “the strip”. We had to smile when we saw some 60-ish couples walking towards the amphitheater carrying Corona’s. We wondered if that was going to be us in the future. We had several parrothead virgins among our group of 15. Due to the masses of people entering the theatre, standing in line of ID bracelets and buying beers, our group got split into 3 smaller groups. It’s always fun to bring non-parrotheads to these shows and let them see for themselves that “everything they’ve heard is true”. None of the uninitiated were with us at the end, but they had to be impressed. Before the show, We even got to hear one of my favorites, Sinatra’s “Fly me to the moon” on radio Maragritaville. That’s when I knew it was bound to be a classic show. This was our 10th JB show in 11 years. We’ve done the seats, we’ve done the lawn thing. Last year, we took my brother in law’s advice and started hanging out by the railing, directly behind the amphitheater. Not the greatest view of the stage when everyone stands up, but the monitor on the back of the amphitheater is directly above you, and the monitors on the sides of the stage are in perfect view. Besides, the sound is fantastic from there. It’s fun to just take in the atmosphere. Looking back at the lawn, and 20,000 people doing “Fins” is really something. Many people in that area are the more outgoing types, who are more inclined to start dancing. The cement walkway makes for a good dance floor. You just have to be alert for flying Budweiser. As I found out late in the show. .I’ve come to realize what a great group of musicians JB has assembled over the years. I’ve always admired the Expertise of Fingers Taylor, Robert Greenidge and Michael Utley. But hearing Nadirah and Tina sing Cairo, and Mac McAnally perform his own penned songs, I realized how talented they are in their own right. Jimmy was in good spirits. He mentioned former Hartford resident, Mark Twain’s name more than once during the show. Paying homage to one of his literary heroes….”Fins to the left…fins to the right…what would Mark Twain think of this scene in Hartford tonight????”…. Thanks to the set lists in this web site and the live broadcasts on Radio Margaritaville, there weren’t too many surprises. None the less, “Lage Nom Ai” and “Stars on the Water” really started the show off with a great vibe. Fingers Taylor is amazing blowing that harp. “Love and Luck” was the only “oldie” that I hadn’t heard “live” in the past. The horn section really belted that one out. I was hoping to hear Johnny B. Goode as an encore, but no such luck. He’s only done it a few times this summer and I was hoping we would be added to that list. Maybe next year. Even my usually reserved brother-in-law, totally “lost it” when his favorite, “Southern Cross” started. It’s rare to see him so hyped up. I guess Jimmy can do that to you. Can’t wait for the new live CD this fall. I’m sure “Southern Cross” will be included in it. It has really become a concert favorite. “One Particular Harbour” was a great finale, especially Nadirah’s new vocal parts near the end of the song. All in all, an excellent time. Being a Parrothead from the “old school”, I would have preferred to have heard more 1970’s material, but who can complain?. Combine the good friends, absolutely perfect weather [75 and sunny], an unbelievable tailgating atmosphere and a fantastic show and you’ve got one of the best entertainment values around. The only question now, is at what age do we introduce our 4 year old daughter to the Parrothead phenomenon Who knows how much longer JB will keep touring. Hopefully, he’ll take the lead of performers like BB King and the Stones and be around for another decade or more. Looking forward to next year’s show. Fins up…..Thanks Jimmy…..

Review : Wow, great show. My first ever but definetly not my last. Our tailgating party arrived late at the parking lots to find the party already in full swing. I have never experienced a tailgating scene like that. Pools, sand, palm trees, and music all in a parking lot in hartford. Who would have thought. The show itself was great and I really enjoyed hearing southern cross. Thanks Jimmy.

Review : what a great show! my 1st outdoor buffett show was one to remember!! I'm going to Great Woods on saturday for the last show (!) of the summer (and the millenium!) the hartford show was a great warm-up for what I expect will be the ultimate parrothead gathering of this century! thanks jimmy for re-instating my faith in people and for helping me learn to enjoy life again! much love to my girl, Noelle, who has helped bring jimmy into my life for many, mnay more years (and shows) to come! PHINS UP! (PS: thanks for "pirate looks at 40": r.i.p., Jaimie Maartens--we miss you.i know you're watching!)

Review : The show was amazing! The outdoor experience made the show even better than the last one I seen at the Nassau Colesium (and well worth the drive from Long Island). I have just 2 complaints.....1st was the lack of bathrooms!!! and 2nd, WHY DIDNT YOU COME TO JONES BEACH? Either way, it was well worth the drive and I look forward to his next show any where in the area. Thanks again Jimmy! Dont Stop! I am now officially a parrothead! Rick

Review : What a great time - we arrived at 10:30 in the Jai Lai parking lot - we got a great space with grass for our umbrella and everything!! We had a u-haul truck which we immediately decorated with palm trees my 21 year old daughter Jess spent 3 days making and a 7ft parrot flag i found at the Cape this year!!! My 19 yr old son and his friends were there also- we've made it a real family affair - we even got interviewed for the local news!! There were about 15 of us - including some first timers who said they'll never miss another Buffett concert!!! The weather was perfect - great food, great drinks, great friends, and THEN the concert!! This was my 9th concert ( including the Today Show in NYC this past May, and Madison Square Garden in FEB.) and I think it was one of the best - he looked like he was having so much fun!!! He did all of our favorites - Southern Cross always brings the house down - and also our favorites from the new CD - I love "Gumbo". Seven of us are getting ready to do it all over again at Greatwoods this Saturday!!!! When the TV interviewer asked me what I say to people who want to know if I'm ever going to grow up I said "Never, not as long as Jimmy keeps singing!! Then I told him that the only thing I wanted for my 50th birthday was to meet Jimmy!!! I think the Meadows people and everyone involved with the show did a great job - and I was very proud of all of us Parrotheads - we were just there to be in "Margaritaville" for awhile and enjoy the day. Thanks Jimmy!!!

Review : loved the show it was definitely worth the drive up from long island, but this was my third trip to hartford to see jimmy and once again the terrible acoustics detract somewhat from the enjoyment of the show. however jimmy and the band were great, what is amazing to me is that jimmy and the reefers truly seem to enjoy themselves performing and that translates to the audience, the karma from the stage to the audience and vice versa is amazing. I still love the old favorites the best, however jimmy's version of southern cross has become my favorite, it just takes you away

Review : UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! This was my second Buffet show and the best, I heard that it might be his last tour and if it was, it was his best show. I might be biased but I don't think there is a better show out there. Jimmy takes people to another place and time!!! Someplace that you can enjoy life and everything it has to offer. Thank you , Jimmy Buffet!!!

Review : The cops were prepared with their riot gear. As usual the parking problem at the Meadows was evident. The theatre doesn't have it's own parking lots ! The sound was bad as usual. Jimmy seemed to have a cold. The band was out of sync. There wasn't much energy. We just think Jimmy doesn't like Hartford. Lots of people who didn't know who Jimmy is. Peopel chatting throughout the whole show. Strong arm security guards confiscating cameras and ripping out the film. They should have paid more attention to the guy sitting next to us drinking a whole bottle of whiskey and the other guys with glass bottles of Corona. Never again for us in Hartford.

Review : the concert was awesome....even better than last year!!! I also heard that the Meadows was gonna try to outlaw tailgating due to the DMB riots, and Buffet said that he would refuse to play unless his fans could tailgate....hes the coolest guy ever!!! One Particular Harbor, and Love And Luck were the highlights, and Jimmy's version of Southern Cross is better than the original...It was great, and I hope he tours forever!!
