Review : Jimmy seemed to like the crowd. He stayed onstage for autographs, etc. after both encores. He mentioned how much he liked being close to the crowd. He was rewarded with several long! ovations, especially after the opening song. The Meriweather was a pain in the a.., but most people found a way to enjoy it anyway. The grounds were still pretty wet from the Thursday night downpour, but at least they had worked on cleaning up. The parking lot was in full swing in spite of opening at 5 p.m. It was incredible how fast a parrothead can park, setup and get the blender going. We saw several instances of enforcement of the no alcohol rule by pouring out the drink on the ground. I saw one citation being issued, but suspect that there was some extenuating circumstance. At any given time, I could see several police officers and maybe 500 cups which obviously were not all soda. In other words, the enforcement was half-hearted, but there. The concert spoke for itself, being peppered with local references, etc. Jimmy even called for a replacement corona for a front row fan who spilled his (I couldn't see why). He asked the fan if he was a lawyer, and then gave him a fresh, cold one in a bottle! Nice souvenir. Great show, big crowd, nice weather. B

Review : all i can say is that this show was unbelievable...it was my first buffett show and i've been building it up in my head for a long time and coming outta there, i'm amazed that it was everything i'd hoped it would be...a GREAT bunch of the friendliest people i've ever been around.. the show sounded great...the set list was great from beginning to end...the weather couldnt have been any better...there's really no room for complaints aside from the terrible security they had working the show...it was like they expected a riot or something...

Review : Four of us came down from Massachusetts to see compare Maryland to the great, Great Woods, in our home state. We must say that despite what we've heard about other states, we were overly impressed with the crown, venue, and Jimmy himself. Everyone was great!! We really felt at home. In case anybody saw us I was the kid with the big Jimmy mask, (who recently got tan). I had on a pirate hat decorated with beanies, about 5 leis, and mardi gras beads. Well I hope all of you can come to my neck of the woods someday and enjoy a show with us up here. SEE you all next year and keep those fins up!!!!! >--^--:

Review : As a relative newcomer to the music of Mr. Buffett, I went to this show with an opened mind. I was astounded at the raport between Jimmy and the audience. The opening was electrifying and the energy never wavered after that. If the audience didn't know that the 2nd encore was the end, (the house lights came up, and every set list has 2 encores), the night could have gon on and on. We were ready for more. Much more. Jimmy's voice was in top form. His musicians were superb. The mix of music, from recent to old, high energy to serene, partying to sentimental, was masterful. Jimmy showed that he is the consumate showman. Even the old warhorses were fresh and new. Not many musicians pull that off. An incredible show. The quality of the sound deteriorated by the end of the first set as thought the amps were strained and clipping, resulting in harsh, crunched sound in Gumbo and Brown Eyed Girl. This did not occur in the second set. The best concert event I have ever experienced in 40+ years.

Review : Venue: It's no Great Woods! I've never seen so many cops at a concert....ever! There must be a horse farm next door as most were on horseback. Saw several $500. citations for drinking in the lot,(which didn't open until 4:30.) Great parties in the other town lots earlier though. The people were great! Many came from Phily, NJ, NY etc. Local hotels were booked-up with fin fans. Gotta love those Sat. night concerts! The music was the BEST! Jimmy has never sounded as good. When he did STARS ON THE WATER as his second song, I knew we were in for a treat. Check out the song list.....it doesn't get any better that that. All the classics were great as were MATH SUKS, OYSTERS AND PEARLS & PACING THE CAGE. FINS brought goosebumps it was so electrifing. My favorite, A PIRATE LOOKS AT 40, was as crisp as ever. And what can you say about SCHOOLBOY HEART!!!! Can't wait for GREAT WOODS(sorry, I still can't call it TWEETER) next Sat. Maybe he'll do BOAT DRINKS for the locals. FINS TO THE LEFT.............

Review : It's sad to say the people at Merriweather and Howard county did their best to muzzle a good time at Merriweather. Our bus was turned away from the gates at 3pm and directed to a mall parking lot. As soon as we reached the mall parking lot a Howard county police officer boarded the bus. He informed us no alcohol was allowed to be consumed on the bus or brought onto Merriweather property. Anyone entering the parking lot without a concert ticket would be arrested for tresspassing. He made it clear we could pay $6 a beer to drink all we wanted inside Merriweather. Then he said, "I hope none of you have lawn seats. The grass was destroyed by roudy fans on Thursday. I hope you don't have pavilion seats either. The people on the lawn are sure to fling the mud at you. Jimmy was p*** and quit playing an hour early on Thursday. Oh yeah, we have helicopters looking for drinkers also." Talk about trying to ruin a good time. Forget Merriweather and forget Howard county. We'll take our fun AND OUR MONEY elsewhere. Next they'll outlaw squirt guns!!

Review : I just read Bri's review (bluke@cciconstruction), and I was in the mall lot and saw the cop that went on your bus. He came to us next, and looked in the back of a pick-up truck, and saw an empty (previously used) cup, and turned it upside down, letting the last one or two drops of liquid hit the ground. He made the poor guys in the truck open up the back, and dump out about 60 unopened beers in front of him, or take 500 dollar fines, each. He then informed us that Howard County doesn't want Jimmy Buffett to come back because his fans are nothing but rude immature drunks. Well, I think we should give him his wish. I've been going to Merriweather for years for Jimmy and other shows and I NEVER saw anything like the debacle from this weekend. I mean, we initially partied in another lot, but then the police sent us to the mall lot, only to have this a**hole cop give everyone attitude like that. And believe me, he wasn't the only one. That being said, the concert itself was unbelieveable. I have to agree with all I have read so far. The song selection and overall crowd energy was the best I have seen in 6 years of Buffett shows. But I'm never going back to Merriweather again, and it's a shame because the venue is so cool. At least in Camden the cops wear leis and hawaiian shirts. Sorry to vent, but my one chance of the year to see Jimmy was almost totally ruined by the fools in blue.

Review : Talk about a different experience. Came down from RI ready to party & was told the gates were not opening till 5. We hung out & partied with some friends till about 630. Good, but weird. In the parking lot we did not have any problems, then again we got there just before the show.---The show was awesome. We have been enjoying a couple evenings a year with Mr Buffett for almost 15 years(remember Recession Recess). This was one of the better concerts we have seen. The crowd energy was very high & the band energy was higher. Everyone just seemed to be having a great time. The song choice was excellent. Enjoyed the kareoke. "Pirate Loks at 40" had a lot of energy. All in all, a great concert experience, even if the people at Merriweather & Howard County do not want us there. Looking forward to this Saturday at Great Woods.

Review : Sweet show. J.B. was in the rarest of forms. He was acting like kid on Christmas morning. Even tossed the guitar to rumble with the plastic sharks on the stage. Bouncing all over the joint. One of the best in 15 years, I'd say.

Review : I just read everyone's review and I agree. I saw JB at Merriweather on Thurs 8/26 (the night it rained like hell). I live in Mass and was there on business. I've seen JB in many venues but this was the worst. It is obvious Merriweather/Howard county has something against the Buffett shows. I was alone in my car when a cop walked right up to me and asked for my drink. He dumped my margarita on the ground. It was in a plastic cup too. Then they harrassed all the cars around me. I saw drug sniffing dogs, cops on horseback. What gives? Cops everywhere. I'm not rushing back there. And the beer was $7 each inside. What a rip-off. I had to buy a ticket on the street since they wouldn't let me in without. And what's the deal with the water bottles? Why can't you take them in? I'm seeing JB at Great Woods this week. They have similiar rules, but much more leniant. Plus beers are ONLY $5.50. Great Woods security would typically say " There's no alcohol allowed in the lot, but if you have your drink in a cup we don't know what you got" . Rich

Review : True, the cops were a pain in the ass, but it'll be a cold day in Margaritaville before I let them ruin my fun even a little. To the guy who was p*** that I was sitting next to his girl, Sorry! it was my seat and believe me I wasn't there to hit on your girlfriend. Marvelous show, I would love to be on the next album, who knows. Fins was unbelievable!

Review : This was the ninth Buffett show I have seen over the years, at various venues throughout the northeast (Hartford, Nissan, Camden, Saratoga (back in 90 and 91) and the second year in a row at Merriweather. Despite the police presence we had no problems in the lot. They seemed to be focusing on the underage crowd, or those who were abusive. Granted, a group of thirty-somethings drinking Coronas out of the back of a minivan doesn't draw alot of attention. Growing up going to shows at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in upstate NY, you got used to the police. At every show the park police there patrol on horseback, so you learn early how to have an inconspicuous good time. Inside, the show was great, Jimmy was really into it and the band did sound great. He seems to really enjoy being at Merriweather and I think it comes across in the show. I'd like to see him put some different material into the set, but Pirate still makes me cry. Overall, I will definitely go back as long as he does.
