Review : What a heartbreaker! I have really mixed emotions about this show. Buffett was in rare form playing one of the best sets I have seen. But the fans were some of the rudest people I have ever been around in my life. First the show... Club Trini played a cool set outside. I even met Amy Lee and Nadirah. As for the Buffett set itself, I was happy to hear Gravity Storm and the new song Club Manhattan. Suprisingly, Waiting For The Next Explosion, my least favorite song from BHOTM, was the one I woke up singing this morning. That tells you something about Buffett's showmanship. The hits were all fun as usual, especially Fins, during which Jimmy played ventriloquist while letting a red inflatable shark do the "singing." The encores were excellent and played with energy that I have never felt before. Johnny B. Goode is a tune everyone must hear Buffett peroform live! Now, about the fans... The parking lot parties were great. But once inside, the people who couldn't hold their alcohol really showed themselves. I think we need to set up a "15 to 25 year-old drunken girlfriend and boyfriend" section in the lawn. And I remember now why I enjoy Polaris (Columbus) and Walnut Creek (Raleigh) so much...better facility, nicer people. But you know what, even bad fans can't ruin a GREAT Buffett show! Fins up and see you on the road next summer.

Review : Cincinnati...where it all began. And apparently where it will come crashing down. Maybe there's a religious text somewhere that forecsts the Parrothead apocalypse for Cincinnati 2000. Saturday night looked and felt like the dress rehersal. I'm not sure what prompted the behaviors displayed on the lawn Saturday but I have a few ideas. Let me start by saying that any tounge-in-cheek remarks offered by Jimmy to try and legitimize the actions of our fellow lawn denizens fell on deaf ears. Is it just me or shouldn't people be trusted with plastic water bottles? Has concert society de-evolved this far? Does Riverbend have to over sell the lawn to the point of Ned Flanders' bomb shelter? Maybe beer sales should be curbed at intermission. The bad mojo was palatable. I'm willing to accept a bad crowd every once in a while, but last summer's show in Cinci was the same way. I don't think a Jimmy Buffett show should be about how big of a drunk (for thier sakes I hope drunk) a##hole you can be in a Hawaiian shirt. This transcends age and listening loyality. I'll be 24 on Tuesday, I've been to 11 Buffett shows, and Saturday night was the first time I've been glad to leave. This was the first show my brother attended and I felt bad for the experience he was subjected to. To the left was the cast of the latest GAP commercial after a kegger, constantly pinballing off of us. To the right a real Einstein who repeatedly raised the question, "Do you know what it means when a girl has clothes on? It means she wants to get laid!" Or, "Do you know what it means when a guy has clothes on? He's drunk!" Down front it was fun to poke people on the shoulder and then, get this, pretend like you didn't do it! What a riot! And a little further up the lawn, it was potty time. I really need urine rushing downhill across my toes. Don't forget the constant flow of traffic rudely shoving past you or people on people's shoulders in front of you or being verbally & physically confronted when you're trying to leave. For everybody out there who can hold their alcohol and party in true Parrothead fashion, I look forward to many more summers of fun. As for the Bizarro Parrotheads out there, do us all a favor and flock somewhere else.

Review : I'm one of the lucky ones who attended both shows (Thurs and Sat night)and sat in the pavillion for both. Thursday's show seemed to be more about the music and Saturday's seemed more about the fans. I don't understand why some people have to be so s%#*-faced drunk to enjoy a Buffett show!! It's about the music!!! You can drink beer anytime but how often do you get to see Jimmy!! I had a parakeet with me Thurs. and we had great seats near the stage...Jimmy sent a roadie out to give my 'keet a guitar pick and told her that Jimmy appreciates kids who put up with the adults antics. Way cool. Pascagoula run has always been one of my favorites. The Juicy Fruit karaoke was great!! And Math Sux is the new anthem for the 3rd graders. At Saturday's show Jimmy seemed to be really into the party. The band was tight and it was over way too soon. I hoped to hear Pacing the Cage again. But no complaints. I can't wait for next summer. I wish I could afford the millenium show!!

Review : WOW...We are from Chicago. We have always heard Cincinnati was the best place to see him. This year everyone's schedules finally were on the same page...So off to Cincy we went. I have grown up on Buffett (thank you mommy & daddy) and have been to many shows across the country. Let me tell you.....I seriously can't remember the last time I had so much fun. From the Cross Country Inn (where 95% of the hotel guests were concert-goers) and the Big Boy next door (which, by the way, welcomes parrotheads on their marquis and announces it will stay open later on Saturday night to serve the crowds) to the grocery stores that let their employees dress up in parrothead gear on concert days. What a riot!!! I truly think the best part of the weekend was our parking spot at River Downs.. First car in the second row.....and someone even left us some chairs to sit in. The whole evening before the concert we were the "Reeferette Greeters" welcoming and waving to all the bus loads and car loads of party goers. I do agree though....way too many people packed into Riverbend. Luckily....we had good people all around us. From what I have read...seems there were some people there who really didn't handle their alcohol very well...seems such a shame...they didnt' even enjoy the true essence of the atmosphere.....needless to say...I loved it....can't wait to go back next year!!!!

Review : Amazing show all around. This was my third show of the summer and by far the best one. The energy of the crowd compares to nowhere else. I loved the older Buffett greats such as Ringling, Ringling. I have been wanting to sing 27 years of beer live for nearly that long. I really do think that more of the tunes from the mid-seventies should be thrown into the mix. Especially Migration and Great Filling Station Holdup (in my opinion two of Jimmy's greats). All in all a kick ass show, and I met a very cute female Parrothead to boot!

Review : Jimmy Buffett is by far one of the best roadshows to experience. BUT.....I will never "experience" him at Riverbend AGAIN!!! I'm happy to be able to say I saw him in Cincinnati at least once, but it just wasn't worth it. WHO LET ALL THOSE KIDS IN AND WHY WERE THEY SERVED SO MUCH ALCOHOL?!?! And by kids, I mean 15-19 year olds who have no business drinking, let alone drinking to the point of puking/passing out on the lawn. The lawn was over-packed and out of control. I'm not a prude and I'm not one who sits during the entire show and applauds politely, either. BUT THERE ARE LIMITS, PEOPLE! And thanks to the little blonde drunk 16 year-old and her just as drunk buddy, I will now remember Riverbend as the place where I ended up with the destroyed knee that will lead to a surgery to repair. RIVERBEND - LISTEN UP!!! You will make money from Buffett, no matter what. Why the hell did you have to sell so much alcohol to people who obviously couldn't handle it, let alone be of a legal age to buy it?! I will never go back to Riverbend. Columbus is just fine with me. Polaris might not be Riverbend, but at least I won't go home with medical bills. But, hey! Other than that, Jimmy was awesome as usual.
