Jake Shimabukuro in the frozen NW

Post by SeattleParrotHead »

Jake was in Edmonds, WA (just north of Seattle) last night, and we braved the elements to go up and see him. We went to dinner in a little bistro in Edmonds before the show and ended up sitting right next to him! What a nice guy! We talked a little about the weather and his upcoming schedule. He'll be in Tacoma tonite and Portland the next and then goes home to HNL. Then next week he's in Wingate, NC, Newton, NC, Clayton, NC and Newberry, SC and then goes back home to HNL! http://jakeshimabukuro.com/shows/

He put on another great show, we had front row seats and it was just amazing to have a close up view of his fingers flying on the ukulele's strings. The range of sound that he gets from those four strings is incredible! He played a most beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" that had everyone spellbound and then came back with a number inspired by SNL . . . . "Less cowbell, more ukulele" that had everyone rockin'.

Check out his schedule, if he's anywhere close to where you live, you gotta go see him. He plays with an enthusiasm and spirit that is a joy to behold.

You know that little voice in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't?
I should probably get one of those....
