mp4 versus mp3 files

Post by REEDMM »

I am trying to fill in a concert in Denver from 2001. I downloaded it a while back, but several of the files were not complete. I just went to Jokelben and tried to download the two songs I need. They downloaded, but in mp4 format (and all of the other songs are in mp3 format).

My computer saved them, but when I went to burn them to a CD using Windows Media Player V. 11.06 (I am running Vista.), it doesn't recognize the two mp4 songs. How can I correct this so that I have the complete concert? I tried re-naming them, but had no success.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Reed

There are two folders for the Denver show in 2001. The first folder contains mp3 files and the second contains m4a files, which is not supported by Vista. Pick up your missing mp3 files from this folder:

2001.05.31 - Denver, CO

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Sunlover. I appreciate your timely help.

It worked, although it saved them with the artist as "Jimmy Buffett Live", rather than "Jimmy Buffett", which is what all of the other songs had as the artist, which caused some problems with Media Player recognizing them, but I worked around it and saved them manually, then created a combined playlist. I would have expected Media Player to save them to the proper file, but evidently it considered them having a completely different artist. The strange thing is that WMP didn't recognize them in a different file automatically the way it usually does with mp3 files I have saved in my Music folder.

Unless you know of something else better for burning CD's/working with music that is free, though, I'm stuck with it right now.

Do all files in Jokelben now have "Jimmy Buffett Live" as the artist? Wondering how that will work with other songs, as I want to create a collection of covers and unusual songs (such as "Purple People Eater" and "Woodstock"). Perhaps I need to create a "Jimmy Buffett Live" artist file in WMP?

I really wanted this particular concert, at Fiddler's Green in Denver on 5-31-01, because my wife and I attended it with close friends. Having a good copy of it enables me to bring back great memories at will, which is simply incredible.

Anyway, I can't thank you enough for your help and all that you do. As usual, you're the best! :D

Regards,

Reed
