Is it just me? I downloaded the bethel show and the sound quality doesn't seem too great? Wasn't this captured from radio mville? Doesn't sound as clear or something

I haven't listened to the whole show, but I spot checked a couple from the links in the trading thread for that show and it seems okay to me. Maybe not the best one, but not off enough that I'd have thought anything of it.

All shows are recorded using the best RCA High Fidelity equipment to come out of the 1930's.

I believe since Marg TV has started up, there has been less bandwidth allocated to the RM stream. The sound quality is not as good on RM as it usually is on the Marg TV streams. There have been several shows lately that I have scrapped the RM capture and used the Marg TV feed to create the mp3 files.

There are other times when the audio mix is higher for the band, especially with Utley's keyboards, so it tends to overpower Jimmy's vocals. That may have been the case for the Bethel show. When that happens, there is not much of a fix that can be applied to the show.

I will have to check my capture files and determine if a better quality sound can be produced. If not, I can try doing the capture from the Marg TV feed.

I apologize if this show was not as good quality as others may be. :(

SunLover, no need to apologize! Don't be crazy. We appreciate evrything you do and that is not your fault. I apologize for becoming spoiled with being able to download any show. Anyone have any tips on which show I should download from this years tour pertaining to sound quality and setlist ?

One thing I have noticed in recent shows is crowd noise. I believe they have a mic out in the audience to give the feel of a live show to those at home, but I think they are mixing too much of it into the feed. Many shows have an echo and a "rumble" that I associate with this. Sometimes I feel like I'm listening to a bootleg recording from the lawn. And in one recent show I could hear conversations in between songs.

SunLover, You are the absolute best!

No reason at all to apologize for anything. Because of you, we can hear over and over again shows that we love.

There is not enough ways to say Thanks on the internet, but know that we really appreciate everything that you do!!

That is exactly what I'm talking about!

Good. Glad to know I'm not crazy. A little obsessive but not totally insane. :D

I have noticed that as well and it is a bit annoying since it can be quite distinct. Sometimes, I'm trying to listen to the conversation to figure out what they're talking about or who it is.

In one show from 2013, you could hear someone offstage yelling expletives between a couple songs. I put a "NSFW" disclaimer on that one.

I like the crowd noise since it does enhance the live experience, but it should not be so distinct that you can make out specific conversations. It should be more in the background.

I noticed that the sound quality for the Austin download was also not all that great, but that from the Woodlands is really good. I figured it was the feed that SunLover got from the show. The 2014 Austin show sounded a lot like the 2010 shows in quality.

Most of the shows since 2011 have been really good quality and I guess some of that is the higher bit rate. And it is awesome that SunLover is upgrading past shows as they are randomly replayed.

Thanks to SunLover!
